Installing Drivers
Ambir
Check Control Panel for the model. (Usually DS820ix)
Go to their site.
Grab the right driver, download, and run as admin.
Install.
Kodak/Alaris
Check Control Panel for the model.
Search up the driver.
If it has both Kodak and Alaris options, double check with the user on what the scanner physically says.
Download the driver and run as admin.
Hit Advanced Setup
Uncheck all except for the drivers.
Install.
Scan Software
For local scanning, we use NAPS2. It is super easy to setup and use. Once you install it, setup up a profile for them (make sure to check feeder settings).
Troubleshooting
WIA Driver In Use (When Installing)
Run Services as admin.
Look for Windows Image Acquisition, right-click, Stop Service.
Make Sure It Is On
This happens more than you'd think... just check Control Panel.
For Ambir, you can check the system tray and if the Ambir icon is grayed out and has an X through it, they need to reboot the scanner.
Ambirs like to go to sleep a lot.
Check Connection In Cerner
Go to the system tray and right-click on Citrix Workspace.
Go to Connection Center -> Preferences -> Connections
Make sure "Digital Cameras and Scanners" is set to connect automatically.
Apply and check again in Cerner.
Reinstall Drivers
Ambir
Use the installer to uninstall.
When it asks to reboot, do it.
Not doing so will sometimes cause the drivers to reinstall wrong.
Use the installer to reinstall.
Kodak/Alaris
Uninstall from Control Panel
Reinstall from the installer as admin.
Choose Advanced Options.
Deselect all but Install Drivers
